Name: Mary-Belle
Age: 17 Months
Illness: Acute Myeloblastic Leukemia (High Risk)
At the age of 10 months, little Mary-Belle was diagnosed with Leukemia. Mary-Belle was 17 months when she was referred to Wish, so her wish was one made by her parents. Mary-Belle’s parents’ wish was to have family photos taken with Mary-Belle and lunch at Chuck E Cheese. Wish Upon A Star went one step further and took the family shopping for clothing for their upcoming family photos. Due to Mary- Belle’s delicate immune system, she could not be exposed to germs. The wonderful people at Chuck E Cheese, opened early on this day to allow Mary-Belle and her family time alone in the restaurant. Her parents were so happy for the day of memories they were given of Mary-Belle being out of the hospital and playing just like any other child. Her parents called this day a “wonderful gift”. This is what your financial support gives to these children and parents; it gives them a “gift of memories” that will last them a lifetime.
Note:
After consideration, Wish Upon A Star decided to proceed with this wish request even though little Mary-Belle was under the age requirements for a wish. This little angel made a big impact on our organization and we feel blessed knowing we granted this little girl one more happy time with her family before her passing in March, 2008.
Harlem Globetrotters
Participants: Children from Children’s Hospital Central California
Wish Upon A Star teamed up with one of their biggest supporters, Harris Construction and was able to send a group of well deserving children along with their families for a night at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, CA, featuring the Harlem Globetrotters. These kids, along with their families got the VIP treatment. They were able to watch the game from exclusive seats in a skybox and got to eat their favorite foods. They were able to laugh, forget for a brief moment about their illness and watch in “awe” as some of their favorite players performed. As for the parents of these children, people who have been under great emotional and financial stress, the opportunity to join with their child in enjoying the happiness of these moments is a priceless gift in itself
Many thanks to our friends at Harris Construction for allowing us to continue our mission of “ Making Dreams Come True”

Illness: Medulloblastoma (Brain Tumor)- High Risk
Cristian’s wish was like any typical happy little boy; he wanted an X-Box with all the works. He wanted to take his imagination to a healthy and safe place, a place where he could forget about how sick he had been and simply- play video games all day long!! Wish Upon A Star was able to fulfill Cristian’s wish by purchasing a flat screen TV complete with a surround sound system as well as an X-Box system and all the accessories one could imagine, plus fill a box full of games, that any little boy would love. Name: Diego
Age: 3
Illness: Adrenal Insufficiency, Congenital Hypothyroidism, Pilocytic Astrocytoma
Due to the strain of frequent hospital visits and everything it involved, Diego’s mom really wanted to give him something that would take his mind off of things and yet stimulate him in his development. Like any other toddler, Diego loved “Elmo” and was in need for some new clothes. Wish Upon A Star was able to fulfill this little happy toddler with a new summer wardrobe, along with every game and toy imaginable with “Elmo” on it. The look in Diego’s eyes and how his face light up seeing all the “Elmo” stuff was unexplainable. Mom couldn’t stop saying “thank-you” because of Diego’s illness, she had been unable to provide some things he needed. Wish Upon A Star was very happy to be apart of this special request for such a well deserving child.
